Hadia Kakar is a Professional Engineer and Soft/Hard Services Owner Specialist at Sanofi Pasteur Limited in North York, Ontario. In her current role, she leads the water reduction initiative and oversees the operations of the B99 Wastewater Treatment and Reuse Plant (WWTRP). Hadia holds a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering and a Master’s degree in Environmental Applied Sciences and Management, both from Ryerson University in Toronto, Ontario. Her progressive career at Sanofi Pasteur has spanned multiple senior leadership roles, including Water and Wastewater Lead, Deputy Director of Systems Master Data and Material Management, Deputy Director of Reliability, and Shift Production Manager. Among her most notable achievements, Hadia led Sanofi’s ISPE Facility of the Year Award (FOYA) winning submission and project execution, and successfully commissioned the B99 Wastewater Treatment and Reuse Plant. Her innovative water management strategies have delivered measurable environmental and financial results, including a 50% reduction in RO reject rates, increased permeate recovery across multiple buildings, and over $150,000 in annual water cost savings — all achieved with zero capital investment. Hadia’s contributions to sustainable water management have been recognized across the industry, including leading a Water Canada award-winning submission. She is passionate about advancing sustainable manufacturing practices in the pharmaceutical sector and is committed to driving operational excellence that supports both environmental stewardship and patient care.
